Our Online Auctions Are a Go!
I’m happy to announce that we will be going live on Friday with our first online auction. Previewing will begin this Friday afternoon (Feb 10th), with live bidding beginning Sunday at Noon (Feb 12th).
We were inspired by the many years of holding our annual vintage garage sales, to bring the same fun and great deals to an online forum, and the auction format seemed like a great choice.
Our auctions will work a bit differently than your average online auction.
The first difference you will note is, there is NO BUYER’S PREMIUM. Because we own the platform our auctions are hosted on, and we are selling our own items,we have no need to add to the cost of bidding.
The next difference is, there are NO TAXES on our auctions. WHAT YOU BID IS WHAT YOU PAY
We are not currently required to collect taxes on our auctions, so what your winning bid is, is the total amount due. This will change, should we continue with auction formats in the future. For now, its just us down-sizing our own collection, so enjoy the next few auctions!
I’m hoping the biggest difference between our auctions and other local auctions, is the quality of the pics and the fair honest descriptions provided for each lot. We treat each lot like we do with our shop listings. Because there is no previewing with online auctions, we believe this needs to be addressed with good pics and honest descriptions.
You are going to need to sign up with us in order to bid. Its a one time sign up and you only need a user ID and a legit email address. Your userID will be used in the auction bidding history of each lot you bid on.
Payment options include eTransfer, as well as credit cards, with processing via STRIPE. We will be adding Apple Pay and Google Pay shortly.
When you select the eTransfer payment option at checkout, your order is put on hold until your eTransfer is received.
We also support PROXY BIDDING on all our auctions. This means you can bid your highest once and let the auction bid for you. This is done by bidding the auction increment amount ($1) until you are high bidder or your highest bid has been out bid.
All lots are sold with free local pick up in Stonewall, MB. We rarely get into the city these days, so meet ups can take a while to set up. As this our own stuff that we are trying to downsize, prompt pick up is really appreciated, otherwise it defeats our original purpose! 🙂
If you’re on Facebook, please consider joing our private Prairie Pickers auctions Group. I will be posting links to lots there, and I am happy to answer any questions you might have while previewing lots.
Cheers, Greg
