Description
A very nice Vintage Paragon Double Warrant Spring Melody Cup and Saucer. The beautiful footed Cup measures 4″ in diameter and is 2.25″ tall. The matching slightly scalloped Saucer is 5.25″ in diameter. Both pieces are decorated with purple trim and purple violets, interspersed with yellow and white blossoms and green leaves. The center of each piece is adorned with a matching floral cluster. The rims of both cup and saucer are trimmed in gold, and the handle, foot, and outside of the cup are also gold decorated. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or flea bites. There is some loss of the purple and gold trim around the edge of the Saucer.
The Double Warrant backstamp in gold on the Cup reads Paragon, By Appointment Fine Bone China, England Regd. The pattern name “Spring Melody” in script is at the bottom of the mark. Dates to between 1952 and 1960. Saucer has black Double Warrant backstamp reads Paragon, By Appointment to H.M. The Queen & H.M. Queen Mary, Fine Bone China, England Regd. Dates between 1939 and 1949.
